SPIMACO's state of the art manufacturing facility is located at Qassim Industrial City, about 320 Km to the North-West of the capital Riyadh.

Built area 60,000 sq. meters
The facility is divided into three main buildings:

I- ADMINISTRATION BUILDING
|
| It consist of offices, quality control laboratory and Pharmaceutical Development Center. staff cafeteria, coffee lounge, clinic, and a mosque are adjacent to the main Administration building. |
II- HIGH BAY WAREHOUSE BUILDING
|
High Bay Warehouse (HBW) utilizes the most advanced technology of un-manned materials handling system, controlled by an operator from his desk. HBW has the capacity to accommodate about 14,000 pallets.
Receiving, sampling and despatch areas along with Q.A. Packaging Laboratory that are located controls all the packaging components.
Antiseptic Manufacturing and Packaging Department is an explosion-proof area situated in the same building. |
III- PRODUCTION BUILDING

| Production block has been built in four (4) floors. First floor consists of change rooms for different manufacturing and packaging departments and toilet facilities.
2nd and 3rd Floors have Raw Materials Dispensary, Packaging Assembly and different manufacturing and packaging departments. Production building is connected to the HBW via material corridor.
LIQUID MANUFACTURING & PACKAGING DEPARTMENT
Liquid Manufacturing is performed in two compartments, one of 5,000 L and the other of 10,000 Litres capacity. All manufacturing activities are activated from the control room. Liquid manufacturing is a completely closed process, having minimal operator's physical involvement in materials additions. Total annual capacity is about 3 million litres, based on a single shift.
Liquid Packaging consists of four (4) filling and packaging lines from Italy, Germany and U.K. These lines are fully automated, starting from the bottle pallets depalletiztion of till the stacking of outer cases containing finished packs on the storage pallets. The total annual capacity of Liquid Packaging is about 40 million bottles. |

ORAL SOLIDS MANUFACTURING & PACKAGING DEPARTMENT
Oral Solids Manufacturing Department has the facility to produce tablets and capsules through wet granulation, dry blending and slugging operations.
Batch size may vary from 50 kg to 600 kg using T.K. Fielder Granulators and Aeromatic dryers. Compression is done using five (5) Kilian compression machine. A Fete compression machine, capable of un-manned operation is on order and will be received by mid 1999. Encapsulation machine is also capable of un-manned operation. Facility are also available for sugar and film coating of tablets, using Accelacota and GS coating machines.
Oral solids manufacturing facility is built on 3 floors, facilitating material transfers by gravity. Also systems are closed, minimizing the product exposure to the environment and operators' exposure to products. Annual capacity is about 750 million tablets and 40 million capsules, on a single shift basis.
Oral Solids Packaging Department consists of 3 blister packaging and one cartoning machines. Blistering machines are from IMA and Uhlmann. Tablets and capsules can be filled in bottles using King tablet counters. Another Uhlmann blistering and cartoning line is on order.
The total annual capacity is about 550 million tablets on a single shift basis, expected to be increased to 700 million with the arrival of Uhlmann machines. |

ASEPTIC MANUFACTURING & PACKAGING DEPARTMENT
Aseptic Manufacturing Department possesses the most advanced facilities to manufacture liquid injectables, drops and ointments, with continuous monitoring of particulate matter. Aseptic Packaging has the facility to inspect, label and pack ampoules in blister packs, along with on-line packaging of drops and ointments. |

CREAM AND OINTMENT MANUFACTURING & PACKAGING DEPARTMENT
Cream and Ointment Manufacturing has the facility to produce creams, ointments and gel products, with batch size of up to 800 kg. Potent active materials are dispensed using a dispensing booth which protects both environment and operators. Cream and Ointment Packaging has the automatic filling and packaging line capable of handling aluminum and plastic tubes. The annual capacity is about 12 million tubes on a single shift basis. |

PENICLLIN MANUFACTURING & PACKAGING DEPARTMENT
Penicillin Manufacturing and Packaging Department is completely isolated from other production departments, having its own entrance, change rooms and air handling system.
Penicillin Manufacturing Section has the facility to produce dry syrup, capsules and film coated tablets. Penicillin Packaging Section has the automatic powder filling and packaging line and blister packaging and cartoning line. Blistering machine is capable of producing tropicalized blister. A pouching machine is also available to pack individual blister in an aluminum pouch. |
