COMPOSITION
Each tablet contains Metoclopramide B.P.10mg.

PROPERTIES
METOSIL (Metoclopramide HCI.) is a dopamine D2 receptor blocker and harmonizes gastro duodeno-jejunal motility and increases gastric emptying. It possesses marked anti-emetic properties. METOSIL exerts a prompt therapeutic action on a series of gastro-enteric disorders such as: nausea, vomiting, hiccup, digestive dyskinesias and those observed during radiological investigations. It does not cause dryness of the mouth, insomnia, constipation or diarrhea, urinary retention, disturbance of renal function or alteration in the volume of gastric secretion.

INDICATIONS
METOSIL is used in nausea and vomiting, gastric intolerance to drugs like antibiotics, digitalis, morphine etc.; gastritis, dyspeptic syndromes, pyloric spasm, digestive disturbance during cirrhosis and as an adjuvant therapy in gastric and duodenal ulcers .
It is also used in gastric disorders due to X-Ray, cobalt therapy, anaesthesia post-operative and chemotherapeutic agents.

 

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION
ADULTS : 1 tablet three times daily before meals.
CHILDREN : The children's dose should not exceed 0.5 mg/kg body weight per day .

CONTRAINDICATIONS
Known hypersensitivity to metoclopramide. Not recommended during the first trimester of pregnancy. It must not be administered simultaneously with anti-cholonergics.

SIDE EFFECTS
Extrapyramidal symptoms have been reported with the use of Metoclopramide. Concurrent administration with phenothiazines may hasten the appearance of extrapyramidal symptoms.

PRESENTATIONS
METOSIL is available as 10 mg tablets in packs of 20's and in hospital packs of 1000's.
